The Latte Map of Seongsu: Exploring Seongsu-dong’s Cafe Culture

In my last post, I mentioned how much I crave a warm, creamy café latte on a rainy day. Since I work in Seongsu-dong, I’m lucky to be surrounded by some of the best coffee spots in the city!

Often called the “Brooklyn of Seoul,” Seongsu-dong is where history meets modern creativity. Once an industrial hub filled with shoe factories and warehouses, it has transformed into a vibrant cultural district. The old red-brick buildings have been reimagined into stunning galleries and, most importantly, world-class cafes.

Coffee isn’t just a drink here; it’s a lifestyle. Every corner reveals a new spot with its own unique roasting technique and aesthetic—from minimalist industrial vibes to cozy, plant-filled sanctuaries. Today, I’m excited to share my personal Top 3 Latte Spots that keep me energized and inspired while I work in this incredible neighborhood!

Spot 1: Milestone Coffee — A Taste of Australia in Seongsu

My absolute favorite, go-to spot is Milestone Coffee Roasters (Seongsu branch). If you’re a latte lover, this is your sanctuary.

They specialize in Australian-style coffee, and one sip of their latte is enough to make you feel instantly healed. It is incredibly rich, nutty, and savory—the kind of flavor that lingers on your palate and makes all your work stress disappear.

I’ve never been to Australia myself, but after experiencing Milestone’s coffee, I find myself wondering: “If it’s this good here, how amazing must the coffee be in Australia?” It has genuinely inspired me to put an Australian coffee tour on my bucket list! But for now, I’m perfectly happy finding my daily peace right here in Seongsu-dong.

The Hidden Gem: The Secret Terrace & Sweet Treats

At first glance, Milestone Coffee might look like a tiny, cozy shop—and the indoor seating is indeed quite intimate. But here is my favorite “insider tip”: if you walk through the shop and open the back door, you’ll discover a hidden backyard terrace! On a beautiful day, sitting out there with a fresh cup of coffee is one of my greatest small joys in life.

Whenever a friend who loves lattes visits me in Seongsu-dong, this is the first place I take them. And it’s not just the coffee they fall in love with! My friends always rave about the baked treats. Their financiers and scones have just the right amount of sweetness and a wonderful texture that perfectly complements the rich, nutty flavor of the Australian-style latte.

Spot 2: Koffee Sniffer — A Rainy Day Sanctuary Near ‘KWANGYA’

My second favorite spot is Koffee Sniffer (Seongsu branch). It’s located closest to my office, making it my go-to sanctuary whenever I need a quick pick-me-up.

On rainy mornings, I make it a ritual to stop by here as soon as I arrive at work to pick up a hot coffee and a fresh donut. In that moment, the “gloomy” rainy weather suddenly transforms into something “atmospheric” and poetic. It’s truly a magical experience! Hahaha.

For K-pop fans, this place is even easier to find because it’s located right next to SM Entertainment’s “KWANGYA” store. If you’re visiting Seongsu-dong to see where your favorite artists are, this is the perfect spot to take a break and refuel.

The Secret to the Perfect Latte: The Dessert Pairing

I just realized something surprising about myself! Generally, I’m not a big fan of sweet desserts. I rarely buy them for myself—or so I thought. But looking back at my top 3 favorite spots, I noticed that I always order a dessert with my latte!

Maybe a true “Latte Master” is also a “Dessert Master”? I’ve come to realize that these small treats are designed to elevate the flavor of the latte to its maximum potential. The rich, velvety texture of the milk and the nutty coffee beans create a beautiful harmony with something sweet on the side.

Anyway, you have to trust me on this one. A great cup of latte is wonderful on its own, but please—treat yourself to a small dessert from my recommendations. It will take your coffee experience to a whole new level!

Spot 3: Champ Coffee — Euljiro Vibes in the Heart of Seongsu

The final gem on my list is a place I recently rediscovered: Champ Coffee (Seongsu branch). I had visited their original shop in the historic Euljiro district before, but I was so thrilled to find they’ve opened a spot right here in Seongsu!

What makes Champ Coffee special is its “humble” and “unpretentious” aesthetic. It reflects the raw, industrial vibe of its original Euljiro roots—simple and honest, without any unnecessary flashiness. You’ll definitely notice their iconic logo: a Tiger, which adds a touch of traditional Korean spirit with a modern, hip twist.

On a sunny day, my favorite thing to do is grab a seat on the benches just outside the shop. There’s something so peaceful and relaxing about watching the world go by in Seongsu while sipping on a perfectly crafted latte.

Rainy Day Romance & The Cookie That Stole My Heart

When I visited Champ Coffee last week, it was a rainy day, so the outdoor benches were completely empty. Everyone else headed inside, but we did the opposite—we ordered our coffees and sat right outside! We just couldn’t miss out on that beautiful rainy-day atmosphere.

April in Seoul is wonderful because even when it rains, it’s not freezing. With just a light jacket, you can sit outside and enjoy the cool air and the sound of the rain alongside a hot latte. It was pure bliss. ;)

And remember what I said about the desserts? My absolute favorite here is their Homemade Cookies.

I once bought a single cookie to-go, but I finished it before I even got halfway to my destination! I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I went back a few days later and bought six more. Both the chocolate chip and cranberry cookies are incredibly moist and packed with flavor.

When I told the owner I came back specifically for the cookies, he laughed and gave me a friendly “warning”: “I know they’re delicious because we make them ourselves, but be careful—you don’t want to eat too many or you’ll gain weight!”Hahaha.

Wrapping Up My Treasure Map of Lattes

And there you have it—my personal “Treasure Chest” of the three best latte spots in Seongsu-dong!

These cafes are spread out across the key areas of the neighborhood, so no matter where you find yourself, a great cup is never too far away. These days, Seongsu-dong is buzzing with exciting pop-up stores, and while exploring them is a blast, it can be quite exhausting.

I highly recommend saving these spots on your Google Maps! When your legs get tired and you need a quick “recovery,” head over to one of these cafes to recharge your energy with a creamy latte and a delicious treat.

That’s all for my rainy-day stories as a Seongsu office worker. I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my daily life!
