Simple Korean Dishes to Try at Home

“Hi there! I’m excited to share some real Korean home-cooked meals with you. Instead of fancy restaurant dishes, I want to show you the simple, cozy food we actually eat at home—the kind of recipes you can easily follow no matter where you are in the world.”

다양한 한식 요리가 담긴 테이블 위의 음식. 잡채, 튀김, 불고기, 해물 요리, 샐러드 등이 포함되어 있으며, 옆에 와인 한 잔이 놓여있다.

To be honest, this is more of a special holiday spread than a regular dinner. It looks a little overwhelming, doesn’t it? ^^ I’ll get back to the basics next time with easy, everyday dishes you can follow along with. Get excited!

Home Cooking Strategy: No Stress, Just Your Unique ‘Son-mat’!

When it comes to the home-cooked Korean recipes I share, I always keep one rule front and center: keep it simple, accessible, and completely stress-free! After all, I’m no Michelin-star master chef myself—just someone who loves good, honest food!

Master chefs and culinary academies might focus on strict formulas, but home cooking belongs to your kitchen. The greatest charm of a homemade meal is making it your own—using the ingredients you love, adjusting seasonings to your palate, and cooking at your own rhythm.

In Korea, we have a beautiful phrase: ‘Son-mat’ (손맛), which literally translates to “hand taste.”

It refers to the subtle, unique magic that every individual cook brings to a dish. Even if two people follow the exact same recipe step-by-step, their dishes will always carry a distinct, lovely flavor unique to them. It proves there is never just one correct answer in cooking!

I create my version of home-cooked comfort, and you get to create yours.

Moving forward, I’ll keep bringing you straightforward, easy-to-follow recipes using everyday ingredients. Approach them with a light heart, have fun experimenting in your kitchen, and discover your very own Son-mat along the way!
