Apgujeong’s Grand Revival: Enjoying the Perfect Terrace Weather Where My 20s Began
To me, Apgujeong is a beautiful time capsule holding some of my fondest memories from my 20s. Back in my college days, sitting at an open-air terrace cafe in Apgujeong gave me this ultimate, sophisticated “chic city girl” vibe.
It was the trendsetting epicenter of Seoul—the kind of place where you felt you had to get your hair done to look truly stylish, where you could sample the most avant-garde desserts, and where the hippest bars kept the night alive.
As time passed, alternative hip neighborhoods popped up all over Seoul. I also grew into my adult skin, developing a preference for quieter, more understated areas, which naturally made my visits to Apgujeong less frequent. However, over the past few years, Apgujeong has experienced a magnificent, high-energy revival!
Walking through the streets in the evening now, the area is buzzing with a brand-new generation of youth. Electric music spills out into the alleys, and the entire neighborhood breathes a vibrant, infectious excitement once again.
On a gorgeous, breezy day like today—absolutely tailor-made for sitting outside and enjoying a leisurely brunch—I want to show you exactly where to go in Apgujeong to soak up this perfect weather 100%. Let’s dive into the reinvented capital of cool!

Buvette Seoul: A Splash of Vibrant Red, Channeling Paris and New York
Located on the first floor of the luxurious Andaz Hotel, Buvette (부베트) is a sanctuary that commands absolute, passionate adoration from women of all generations.
The moment the outdoor terrace catches your eye, you are greeted by a striking, vibrant pop of classic Buvette Red. On a beautifully sunny day, this signature color seems to bounce off the sunlight, gleaming brighter and adding an instantly festive, European holiday flair to the streetscape.

Securing a seat on this open-air terrace and simply sipping a well-crafted cup of coffee is the ultimate form of urban healing. The soft breeze, the lively neighborhood energy, and the beautiful surroundings offer an instant, magical mood boost.

But the romance doesn’t stop outside. The moment you step through the doors, you are instantly transported and captivated by the interior. It feels as though someone seamlessly transported the soul, charm, and sophisticated vintage aesthetics of Paris and New York right into the heart of Seoul. Every corner, from the moody wooden accents to the classic bar counters, oozes timeless elegance.

The Real-Life “Sex and the City” Hotspot: Small Plates, Infinite Orders!
As you might have guessed, the crowd here is overwhelmingly female. If you’re trying to picture the exact vibe of this place, let me paint the perfect mental image for you:
Remember “Sex and the City” where Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda meet up every single week for their iconic, gossip-filled Sunday brunch? Buvette is the absolute living embodiment of that exact scene. cocktail glasses clinking, endless laughter, and fashion-forward crowds talking about life.

I usually visit here with my close girlfriends, and we all agree that the beautifully curated, visually stunning plates are practically engineered for a fabulous girls’ day out.
Now, a quick disclaimer: the portion sizes here are notoriously dainty and delicate. But honestly? We view that as a massive win! Because the individual portions are on the smaller side, it gives us the perfect excuse to order an absolute mountain of different dishes all at once. Haha! We get to fill the entire table with colorful plates, sample a bit of everything, and feast with our eyes before we even take a bite.

Our Ultimate Buvette Order: The 3 Legendary Dishes You Must Try
Four hungry friends, one beautiful morning… you can only imagine how many plates completely blanketed our table! Haha. Voluminous or not, every single dish here is a masterpiece of European culinary art. If you’re overwhelmed by the extensive menu, here are the top three holy grail dishes that always dominate our table:

While I’ve highlighted some of my personal favorites, keep in mind that Buvette updates its menu slightly depending on the season to ensure the freshest ingredients.
However, no matter when you visit, make sure to pair your main dishes with their signature Carottes Râpées (당근 라페) or their famously tender Leek Dish (대파 요리). These zesty side plates cut through any rich flavors perfectly!

1. Carottes Râpées (당근 라페)
Don’t underestimate this humble shredded carrot salad. Tossed in a perfectly balanced vinaigrette, olive oil, and herbs, it is incredibly crisp and refreshingly tangy. It acts as the ultimate palate cleanser between heavier dishes, keeping your taste buds sharp and ready for the next bite.
2. Croque Monsieur (크로크무슈)
This is French comfort food executed to absolute perfection. Thick slices of artisanal bread are layered with savory ham, drenched in rich, velvety Gruyère and Béchamel cheese, and toasted until beautifully blistered and golden. It’s warm, gooey, and utterly indulgent.
3. Mousse au Chocolat (초콜릿 무스)
You absolutely cannot leave Buvette without experiencing their legendary chocolate mousse. The server literally scoops a massive, decadent dollop of rich, dark chocolate mousse straight out of a large bowl onto your plate, topped with a mountain of fresh whipped cream. It is dense yet cloud-like, and profoundly chocolaty—the ultimate mic-drop dessert!

Whether you are a French food connoisseur or just looking to recreate your own Sex and the City lifestyle for a morning, Buvette Seoul is the ultimate place to soak up the gorgeous terrace weather. Grab your favorite friends, secure a spot under the golden sunlight, and enjoy a beautiful, endlessly chatting brunch in Apgujeong!

Conté de Tulear: A Lush Garden Oasis and Hidden Soul Food in Dosan Park
If you want to stretch your beautiful day in Apgujeong even further, I have the perfect next stop for you. Not far from Buvette lies Conté de Tulear (꽁티드툴레아) near Dosan Park. This is a stunning, converted residential home that hides a breathtaking, lush green garden terrace inside.

The Nostalgic Charm of a Converted House
The moment you walk into the courtyard, the vibrant, lush landscaping instantly makes you feel a cozy, “at-home” comfort. Interestingly, the vast majority of Seoul residents live in modern high-rise apartments. Because apartment living is the norm, locals in Seoul find an incredibly romantic, nostalgic charm in these beautifully renovated, old brick-and-mortar houses turned into cafes.

The Twist: High-End Brunch Meets Korean Soul Food!
While the venue looks like a chic European villa, the menu hides a delightful twist. Unlike typical Western brunch spots, Conté de Tulear serves legendary plates of Kimchi Bokkeumbap (김치볶음밥 – Kimchi Fried Rice) and Tteokbokki (떡볶기 – Spicy Rice Cakes)!
Tteokbokki is the ultimate, undisputed soul food for Koreans. Finding it crafted with high-quality ingredients in such a sophisticated setting makes it an absolute mandatory order.

(Please forgive me that my photos suddenly turned dark as night fell! I am such a frequent regular here, both day and night, that my camera album is just a beautiful blur of all hours. Haha. ^^;)

A Local Guide to Celebrating Birthdays in Korean Cafes
This is also my absolute go-to destination for celebrating a close friend’s birthday. If a restaurant is chosen for someone’s special day, that tells you everything you need to know about its quality and vibe, right?!
For our celebration, we ordered one of their famous signature desserts, brought out our own cute candles, lit them up, and sang a beautiful birthday song.
💡 An Important Local Culture Tip for Travelers! Many cafes and restaurants in Korea will kindly allow you to bring out a private cake, light the candles, and take photos to celebrate your special moment. However, because they sell their own artisan desserts, actually eating the outside cake inside the venue is generally forbidden.
To be a polite guest, do what the locals do: order a delicious dessert directly from the cafe (like Conté de Tulear’s legendary chocolate mousse or tarts), pop your own pretty candles on top, and blow them out! It’s respectful, elegant, and perfectly sweet.
Pro-Tip: One App to Book Them All!
Because both of these hotspots are incredibly popular, they are almost always fully booked with notoriously long waitlists. To ensure a seamless and worry-free day, I highly recommend making a reservation before you visit!
The best part? You don’t need to jump between different websites. You can easily secure your reservations for both venues simply by downloading and using the ‘Catch Table’ (캐치테이블) app—the go-to dining app in Korea!
Just a quick heads-up when you’re booking Conté de Tulear: please double-check that you are selecting the “Apgujeong Branch”, as they have other beautiful locations around the city!
With your reservations locked in, I hope you all step outside, soak up the gorgeous sunshine, and thoroughly enjoy this week’s beautiful, pleasant weather to the absolute fullest. Have a wonderful and joyful week ahead! ; )
