[07:00 AM] Bisabeol Jeonju Bean Sprout Soup (비사벌 전주콩나물국밥)

First up is a undisputed classic of Korean traditional hangover cures: Bean Sprout Soup (Kongnamul-haejangguk). Served piping hot in a sizzling earthenware pot (ttukbaegi), this clean and refreshing soup works like magic to instantly soothe an upset stomach.

Bean sprouts are naturally rich in asparagine, an amino acid renowned for accelerating alcohol breakdown and protecting liver cells. Combined with their high water and vitamin C content, bean sprout soup rapidly restores hydration and flushes out residual toxins, making it one of the most effective and gentle ways to recover from a night of drinking.

This place opens its doors as early as 7:00 AM, making it the ultimate destination if a severe hangover wakes you up at the crack of dawn!

The menu features just one single star item: Bean Sprout Soup (Kongnamul-haejangguk). Take a single spoonful of the piping hot broth, and you’ll instantly exhale a satisfied “Ahh~” as a soothing warmth spreads through your chest, effortlessly melting away all that lingering discomfort.

[09:30 AM] Fresh & Modern Detox, Neungdong Minari Seongsu (능동미나리 성수)

The second hangover hot spot opens its doors at 9:30 AM: the famous Neungdong Minari!

This trendy eatery serves a sleek, modern style of Gomtang (beef bone soup) topped with a generous, fresh mountain of fragrant Minari (water dropwort).

A tangy and refreshing side dish of seasoned water parsley with red chili pepper.

Water dropwort is naturally famous for its exceptional detoxifying properties, making it an incredible booster for flushing out alcohol toxins from your body!

…Though to be completely honest with you, we didn’t visit just for hangover relief—we simply went because it’s an insanely famous gourmet hot spot! Haha!

[10:00 AM] The Ultimate Quick Fix– Seoul Forest Bunsik (서울숲분식)

Another effortlessly accessible hangover cure has got to be Korean Ramyeon!

Since it’s a staple at almost any local snack spot (bunsikjib), you can easily pop into one nearby. Or, for a 24-hour instant emergency fix, a cup of instant ramyeon from a convenience store always saves the day!

(…Admittedly, my friends and I often end up grabbing a cup of ramyeon at a convenience store before even heading home after a night out! Haha! )

The photo here shows Seoul Forest Bunsik, a cozy spot near Seoul Forest that I visited all by myself when I desperately needed a hangover cure the day after drinking.

Ordering a classic combo of piping hot Ramyeon and Gimbap allowed for a quick, simple, and utterly satisfying recovery meal!

Another great feature of this spot is its long bar-style seating, making it completely stress-free and welcoming for solo travelers and solo diners! In fact, as you can see in the photo, every single customer who walked in that day—other than myself—was dining alone as well.

[11:00 AM] Rich, Restorative Broth Dongol Yakbang (돈골약방)

Next up is Dongol Yakbang, a place where you can sip on a broth so rich, deep, and savory that it genuinely feels like nourishing traditional medicine!

True to the word “Yakbang” (which translates to traditional pharmacy or apothecary), this spot serves deep, soul-restoring pork bone soups that thoroughly comfort and refill your stomach from within.

After all, when it comes to recovering from a long night of drinking, nothing beats a piping hot bowl of rich broth!

To be completely honest, I actually didn’t even have a hangover on the day I visited! (?) So instead of the classic hangover soup, I treated myself to their Sea Squirt Bibimbap (Meongge Bibimbap) and Perilla Oil Noodles (Deulgireum Guksu)!

Have you ever thought about having sea squirts in your bibimbap?! Haha! It’s such a unique and refreshing flavor profile. If you’re up for it, I highly recommend diving into this little culinary adventure to explore some exciting new tastes!

Looking closely at the photos on the wall, it turns out plenty of celebrities have already stopped by to treat their own “hangovers” here! Haha!

[11:30 AM] The Chill Recovery, Daeyeop (대엽)

Up until now, we’ve been focusing on piping hot broths to cure that hangover. But this time, we’re switching gears to something completely different: ICED cold broth!

Believe it or not, there’s a whole dedicated group of people who swear by Pyongyang Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) as their ultimate hangover cure!

Taking a deep gulp of that ultra-clean, refreshingly cool—and famously subtle—broth instantly chills out your churning, nauseous stomach and brings you right back to life.

Admittedly, Pyongyang Naengmyeon can be a bit of an acquired taste for beginners because of its understated, delicate flavor.

But that’s precisely its magic—it’s the kind of dish that strangely keeps calling you back until you’re completely hooked!
